Dehumidification

Belvent A/S was responsible for the installation of a retrofitted dehumidification system for the main cables.

Opened in 1997, the High Coast Bridge is Sweden’s longest suspension bridge, with a main span of 1,210 meters and a total length of 1,867 meters, and as of 2016 the third‑longest suspension bridge in Scandinavia.

The bridge is one of the key landmarks in Swedish infrastructure, making correct and optimal maintenance essential.

Dehumidification and airtight sealing of the main cables are the primary measures used to protect the cables against the effects of corrosion and rust—an alternative to paint, which had previously been used on similar structures.

Wrapping

The dehumidification of the main cables was carried out in close collaboration with DS Semaco, who were responsible for the successful wrapping and airtight sealing of the main cables.
